Mental Health Care That's Got You Covered
More than 2 in 5 Aussies aged 18 to 65 are estimated to experience a mental disorder at some time in their life, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. And at HCF, we understand everyone's mental health journey is different and often finding where to go for support for yourself and your loved ones can be challenging. That's why we've developed a comprehensive range of wellbeing programs, with options available for all ages and the freedom to choose what works for you at all stages of your journey.
We've also got extras that include cover for mental health services. It's just another way we provide a level of care that's uncommon.
FREE MENTAL WELLBEING CHECK-IN
We know how important looking after your mental wellbeing is, but it can be hard to reach out for help when you're feeling anxious, stressed or in need of extra support.
That's why we've expanded our mental health offering to include a free HealthyMinds Check-in for eligible members*.
The HealthyMinds Check-in is a one-on-one chat from the comfort of your home with a PSYCH2U psychologist about how you're feeling. They can offer you tailored support in your session and, depending on your needs, can direct you to your GP for a mental health treatment plan, Medicare-subsidised sessions or appropriate support programs and resources.
You can join the session via video call from your smartphone, tablet or computer and you don't need a referral to book.
Book your free HealthyMinds Check-in at a time that suits you, with appointments available Monday to Friday, 7am to 10pm (AEST/AEDT) and some weekend availability.
ONLINE COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY
You can access a range of evidence-based online treatment programs through This Way Up**, a digital mental health service developed by experienced psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. There are more than 18 programs available, designed to help you understand and improve mental challenges like stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression and even chronic pain.
The programs are available free of charge when prescribed by a clinician. Your provider can register with This Way Up and refer you to an appropriate online program under their supervision.
Alternatively, you can access the program without a supervising clinician for $59 per course. Depending on your extras cover, we'll also cover the cost of eligible This Way Up programs, up to your annual limit.
There are also a range of practical resources and free wellbeing programs for consumers and clinicians available at no cost.
HELPING YOUR KIDS WITH THEIR BIG FEELINGS
Calm Kid Central# is an online educational support program to help kids aged 4 to 11 learn to act bravely and confidently, behave in positive ways, develop good friendships and manage tough life situations.
Eligible members can get:

- fast and easy access to a team of experienced child psychologists in an online forum setting, who will answer unlimited relevant questions from parents and caregivers videos and articles to help parents know what to say and how to support their child emotionally.
