You’ll be taken to the operating theatre or procedure room and made comfortable.
After you’ve had your anaesthetic and/or sedation, the surgeon will most likely place a tourniquet around your upper arm. This is a tight cuff that reduces bleeding during the surgery. The tourniquet is released as soon as your surgery is finished.
What happens next depends on the type of carpal tunnel release surgery you’re having.
Afterwards, the area will be covered with a bandage.
The surgery usually takes less than half an hour to an hour, depending on the procedure.
