HCF: KEEPING FAMILIES COVERED TOGETHER FOR LONGER FROM SEPTEMBER 1

  • HCF increasing age of adult dependants on family cover from 25 to 31
  • Changes to come into effect September 1
  • Increased dependant age directly helping to ease cost of living pressures

Wednesday August 24, 2022: HCF will help families stay covered together for longer from September 1, when it increases the age of adult dependants from 25 to 31.

Thanks to recent Government reforms HCF will now be able to extend cover for adult children on family policies as student dependants if they are single full-time students, until they turn 31 or cease full time study. Adult children who rely on parents for maintenance and support and are single can also now be covered until they turn 31 with Extended Family cover.

HCF CEO Sheena Jack said it was important that healthcare continued to stay affordable for families.

“We know that cost of living pressures are mounting for all Australian families and that means the typical household dynamic is changing,” Ms Jack said.

“More and more young adults, particularly in capital cities, are staying at home with their parents to help ease the burden of cost pressures while studying or establishing early careers. This age increase is one way that we can help make healthcare more affordable for those younger members.”

As Australia’s largest not for profit health insurer, HCF’s vision is to make healthcare understandable, affordable and high quality.

“People are more aware than ever of the importance of protecting their health, while also seeking great value cover. With this change, we’re pleased that we’ll now be able to further help support more Australians with peace of mind when it comes to their health,” Ms Jack said.

HCF Members who would like to find out more about the options available to keep their dependants covered can call 13 13 34 or visit their local branch.
