- Portable contents (only available with the contents or combined covers): Add this to your contents cover to insure mobile phones, cameras, engagement rings and more away from your home, including if you’re temporarily outside Australia for up to 120 days. ESTIMATE YOUR REPLACEMENT VALUE
People generally want enough insurance to cover their property’s estimated replacement value. To help you estimate those values, we've provided access to these calculators.
While it’s up to you to decide the type and level of cover you want, remember that if you don’t have enough, you could end up having to pay for some of the costs yourself. On the other hand, you should also be careful not to over insure. Allianz will only pay up to the amount of your loss or the sum insured, whichever is lower (subject to the policy terms and conditions).
Note that these calculators can’t take into consideration all the specific details about your home and should therefore only be used as a guide.

TO MAKE A CLAIM
Head to the Allianz online claims portal or call the Allianz claims line 24/7 on 1300 555 030.
FAQs
How do I make a claim?
1. Do what you reasonably can to prevent any further loss, damage or liability.
2. As soon as is reasonably possible, tell the police about any malicious damage, theft, attempted theft, burglary or loss of insured property.
3. Contact the Allianz Claims Call Centre on 1300 555 030 and tell them what’s happened. They’ll help you through the claims process.
Always check with Allianz before you spend on anything you want to claim (e.g. a builder), to make sure you’re covered.
Am I covered for flood?
You should check to see whether flood cover will be an event covered by your policy. If not, you can apply to add optional flood cover.
Please read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and any applicable supplementary PDS for details of terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply to optional flood cover, as well as the Home Building and Home Contents Key Facts Sheets, before deciding to apply.
I’m moving, do I need 2 contents insurance policies to cover me at both locations?
Not at first. For up to 14 days after you first start moving, we’ll cover your contents for loss or damage caused by an insured event at both your new and old addresses. However, contents in transit from one address to the other are only covered if optional Accidental damage has been taken on the policy.
What do I do if I rent my home out to tenants?
If you’re renting all of your home out to tenants, home or contents cover isn’t available. If you rent out part of your home while you’re still living at the same address, get in touch so we can determine if you’re eligible for this cover.
What does the Accidental damage option cover me for?
This option covers you for damage caused by unintentional and unexpected accidents and mishaps – not just the specified insured events. If you have contents cover and take out this option, an example of a mishap you’d be covered for is spilling red wine on the carpet or lounge. If you have building cover and take it out, a few examples include accidentally putting a hole in the wall when moving furniture or your kids drawing all over your walls. If you have contents cover, your contents will also be covered anywhere in Australia for up to 90 continuous days – not just at the insured address.
I’d like cover for my portable contents along with my buildings cover. What are my options?
Portable contents optional cover is only available if you have Contents cover or combined Building & Contents cover.
How do I know if I have optional covers on my policy?
Check your policy schedule to see which optional covers you’ve added. You can apply to add new options to your policy at any time by contacting HCF Home & Contents Insurance on 1300 657 046.
How do I determine the right amount of cover for my buildings and contents?
We have access to online calculators that can help you estimate the replacement value of your buildings and your contents.
What is considered ‘unable to be lived in’?
Your home is unable to be lived in when it’s so damaged that normal domestic activities like cooking, sanitation and personal hygiene can’t take place, and as a result you can’t live there.
Where can I get all the details about these insurances?
For full details including terms, conditions, limits and exclusions for all home insurance cover options, refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), any supplementary PDS and Home Buildings or Home Contents Key Fact Sheets.

1. Online discount
When you both quote and buy a new home insurance policy online, a discount of up to 10% is applied to your first year’s premium. This discount is not applied to Domestic Workers’ Compensation (if available and selected), or upon renewal. Minimum premiums apply.
2. Combined discounts
A discount of up to 10% is applied to your premium when you combine Buildings and Contents on one Home and Contents Insurance policy, including the optional covers (if selected): Motor Burnout and Accidental Damage cover. The combined discount doesn't apply to any flood component of the premium (where covered) or to the optional covers Portable Contents (if selected) and Domestic Workers’ Compensation (if available and selected). Minimum premiums may apply.
3. No Claim Bonus
When you take out a new policy, we calculate your No Claim Bonus (NCB) based on your home insurance claims history. To qualify for the maximum No Claim Bonus of up to 30%, home insurance customers must have had no Building or Contents insurance claims in the preceding 5 years. However, customers who have had claims may still qualify for a reduced No Claim Bonus. We won’t apply the full percentage of the No Claim Bonus if it results in you paying less than the minimum premium.
The No Claim Bonus isn’t applied to the flood component of the premium (if covered) or Domestic Workers’ Compensation (if available and selected) or Portable Contents (if selected).
4. Application of discounts and minimum premiums
Where discounts are applied, your premium is subject to rounding. If more than one discount applies, they’re applied in a predetermined order, so the later discounts apply to the amount already reduced by the earlier discounts instead of the total amount. Discounts do not apply to government taxes and charges.
Most discounts won’t apply below the minimum amount payable for the policy.
5. Option to change your excess
Not available with respect to any additional compulsory excess, any imposed excess applied to the policy, or to the Portable Contents excess (if Portable Contents is selected). Any reduction in premium won’t be applied to government taxes and charges, any flood component of the premium (where covered), or to the optional covers Portable Contents (if selected) and Domestic Workers’ Compensation (if available and selected). Minimum premiums may apply.
6. Instalment premiums
If you choose to pay your premium by instalments you do not pay us any more than if you pay your premium in one lump sum annually. The premiums payable by instalments may be subject to minor adjustments (upwards or downwards) due to rounding. Note: Your financial institution may apply transaction fees to instalment payments.
7. 72-hour exclusion period
We may not provide cover for any loss of or damage to your property caused by cyclone, flood, flood water combined with run-off and/or rainwater, grassfires and bushfires during the first 72 hours after you first purchase a policy or increase your cover under an existing policy. Refer to PDS for when exclusion periods apply.
8. Earthquake excess
An additional imposed excess amount of $250 applies for each claim or loss or damage caused by an earthquake or tsunami, or a series of earthquakes or tsunamis, during any period of 48 consecutive hours.
* To access the link, log in to the My Membership app or online member services and go to the insurance section of the HCF Thank You page. The 5% discount applies automatically when you use the applicable link to quote and buy a new HCF Home Insurance policy online. The discount will be applied to standard premiums (including for optional covers except for Domestic Worker's Compensation if available and selected) after all other eligible discounts, to the extent that any minimum premium is not reached (noting that if you are eligible for more than one discount, we apply each of them in a predetermined order to the premium as reduced by any prior applied discounts/entitlements). The discount does not apply to taxes and government charges. The discount will continue to apply automatically in the event the policy is renewed, while this offer continues. HCF reserves the right to change, remove or amend partners and offers without providing written notice. HCF Thank You terms and conditions apply.
