HCF brings after-hours GP service to Melbourne and Geelong
Sydney, 15 October 2013 - Australia’s largest not-for-profit private health insurer, HCF, has announced the expansion of its at-home after-hours GP service, My Home Doctor, into Victoria.
My Home Doctor is now available to all HCF members with a Hospital product residing in more than 500 suburbs in Melbourne and Geelong, free of charge.
The expansion builds on My Home Doctor’s existing coverage area of more than 1,100 suburbs in New South Wales and Queensland and comes in response to strong demand and overwhelmingly positive uptake for the service from HCF members since its launch in May last year.
Under My Home Doctor, which is provided by Family Care Medical Services, registered doctors make non-emergency home visits from 6pm to 8am Monday to Fridays, on Saturdays from noon onwards, and all day on Sundays and public holidays.
HCF’s Managing Director, Shaun Larkin, said of the expansion: “As the nation’s first private health insurer to launch a service like this, it’s extremely rewarding to see such strong member uptake of the service.
“My Home Doctor addresses a need in the market for after-hours medical services. We’re very pleased to be fill that need for our members and, in doing so, extend the value they get from their HCF membership,” he said.
Eligible HCF members in Melbourne and Geelong can access My Home Doctor using a dedicated telephone hotline. Following a simple identification process, a registered doctor will attend the member’s home. After performing the consultation, the doctor will issue a report to the member’s GP.
There is no waiting period for My Home Doctor, for new or existing HCF members.
