YourProcedure

First, your surgeon cuts through your breastbone to access your heart.

Depending on their preferred method you may then be put on a heart/lung machine.

Your surgeon then extracts the grafts that will later be used to bypass the blocked arteries.

After the grafts are sutured into place, your surgeon checks that blood is flowing through them properly. If a heart/lung machine was used, your heart is restarted and the machine is disconnected.

After surgery

Your hospital stay.
